Two Days Old

Puppies are doing very well. I have to say they have been exceptionally good, very quiet.
Most puppies when they are born are very focal for 24 hours or so but these little ones are very content.
Paris, like the 5 generations before her,
has been an exceptional mother.
Over the next few days you will see the puppies "plump up".
Each one has already gained an ounce.
At this time their eyes are closed as well as their ears.
This is a protection from mother nature.
Their ears and eyes open at 2 weeks.
First meal will be around 3 weeks of age.

One day old

Well, it was a long night for us.
We were shocked that Paris gave us only 3 beautiful yellow babies,
2 females and 1 male.  We had expected more.
Birth weights were 16 oz, 16.1 oz and the male weighing 18 oz.
Everyone is healthy & doing well. So far no one has dropped
below their birth weights.
Congrats to all on your new babies!

Merry Christmas! : 0)

Paris Day 63 evening

Paris lost her mucous plug around 3 p.m. today. She is restless and clingy. All her toys are lined up around her and she is begging for me to lay with her. I can feel the puppies moving around. They are very active tonight. I think they know something is up!

Paris Day 63

Good Morning to all,
Paris slept well last night but seemed to be restless early this morning. I always keep a video monitor on the whelping pool at all times so I don't miss anything. She was not keen on food today and temperature was 99.4. I expect we will start seeing beginning signs of labor tonight and into the wee hours of the morning. I have alerted our vet for an on call status if he is needed. I am glad that she is not going to wait till the snow storm hits. :0)

Paris Day 62

Paris is really starting to get restless. Today is day 62 from her first due date. She may go as late as Friday. Three times a day we take her temperature. If it falls below 100 degrees, it means we usually will see labor begin within 24 hours. It is a mommy dog's timer. : ) Her temperature was 100.9. this morning. Normal for a dog is 101 so not too far off.
Paris has plenty of milk and is continuing to eat with gusto! She hasn't' missed a meal yet!

The whelping pool is ready and everything is set.
We can't wait!
Merry Christmas to everyone and drive safe.
As soon as I have an announcement I will send an email and post photos as soon as I can.
